The Carousel at The District at Green Valley Ranch to Debut This Spring ============================================= HENDERSON, NV; April 14, 2008 – The District at Green Valley Ranch announces the addition of a brand-new carousel at The Green, adjacent to Whole Foods Market, as part of an ongoing effort to enhance the center’s popular outdoor gathering places. The new attraction is scheduled to open in May, 2008.

Thirty eight feet in diameter, ‘THE CAROUSEL AT THE DISTRICT AT GREEN VALLEY RANCH’ will feature 32 animals and two chariots for guests to ride on. Animals featured on The Carousel include a variety of traditional, majestic, renaissance-style horses, as well as a myriad of menagerie animals including a tiger, elephant, zebra, giraffe, panda bear and many others.

“When I was a kid, some of my favorite memories were going to Coney Island in New York with my family to ride the carousel”, said Bruce Deifik, President and CEO of American Nevada Company, developer and operator of The District. “We want to share that experience with our guests and we know the community will enjoy it for years to come”.

The grand opening weekend of the $1,000,000 attraction is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 11am – 3pm, and again Sunday, May 4, 2008 from 12pm – 4pm during ‘The Big Weekend’ series of events taking place throughout The District.

Upon opening, The Carousel will operate Monday through Friday, 3pm-9pm, Saturday, 10am-9pm and Sunday, 11am-7pm, and is wheelchair accessible. Tokens to ride The Carousel will be available at the attraction for $2 each. The Carousel at The District is the first and only outdoor carousel in the Las Vegas valley.

The Carousel is designed and built by Barrango Classic Carousels, out of South San Francisco, California. Barrango has been manufacturing classic reproductions of American Style carousels, carousel horses and menagerie animals for more than 30 years. All of the animals on The Carousel at The District were created from molds of original antique figures carved of wood. Most were created from original works by famous carousel maker Gustav Dentzel, whose figures are known for their animated expressions and fine craftsmanship. The décor will feature three-dimensional faces of menagerie animals, interior scene panels, beveled mirrors, and 1200 white lights for nighttime illumination. The attraction is topped with a big top canopy and decorative finial. The carousel will spin to approximately 80 melodies recorded from an original band organ.
