RUN FOR YOUR L.I.F.E. 5K RACE & 1 MILE FUN RUN | Saturday, September 18, 2010 | 7:30am | Main Street | The first annual Run for your L.I.F.E. 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run was created by Lowery's Multisport Races, Inc. to encourage Leadership, Integrity, Fitness and Education amongst Nevada youth. Lowery's Multisport has partnered with 501c(3) H.U. Lee Memorial Foundation which provides college scholarships to outstanding students around the nation. 75% of the monies raised locally support local youth in reaching their higher education goals. FAAN WALK FOR FOOD ALLERGY | Saturday, September 25, 2010 | 10:00am | Main Street | The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) has been at the forefront of progress in food allergy research. Findings from research studies have been used to change federal and state laws, improve school policies, raise public awareness, improve the daily lives of individuals with food allergy, and provide education for patients, caregivers, and health professionals. The FAAN Walk for Food Allergy begins with a 2 mile walk and ends with activities for the family. The festivities also include participation by vendors representing products that may assist families living with food allergies. The event is free and open to the public, and will feature a variety of artists displaying and selling their works, along with live musical entertainment. NEVADA WILD FEST | October 15-17, 2010 | 10:00am - 11:00pm | Henderson Pavilion | Nevada Wild Fest will be an annual three-day country & western fair with carnival rides, games, food, and exhibitions, all anchored by award winning and legendary country music stars. This event will support the Lili Claire Foundation's efforts to build a state-of-the-art campus for the study and care of children living with neurogenetic conditions on land granted to the foundation by the City of Henderson. THE ARTHRITIS WALK | Saturday, October 23, 2010 | 8:00am | Main Street | The Arthritis Walk® is the Arthritis Foundation’s annual nationwide signature event that raises funds and awareness to fight arthritis, the nation’s most common cause of disability.
Participants walk in honor of a friend or family member with arthritis. People with arthritis wear blue hats to signify their action in taking control of their condition. The event features a three- mile and one-mile course, with arthritis information and activities for the entire family. Pet owners are invited to bring their dogs along for the walk.
